PTC News Desk: Harichand Jat, a most-wanted gangster and active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was detained by US authorities in California last night. He is popularly known as Hari Boxer. The detention followed inputs shared by the Delhi Police Special Cell and Haryana Special Task Force (STF).

Indian security and intelligence agencies had been tracking Boxer's movements since the firing incident outside Bollywood director Rohit Shetty's Mumbai residence.

The authorities are expected to begin the process of bringing him back to India through the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Boxer had allegedly threatened celebrities, including Rohit Shetty, Tusshar Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, over their links with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. He was also accused of arranging a shooting at actor-comedian Kapil Sharma's cafe in Canada.

In January this year, Boxer claimed responsibility for the firing outside Shetty's Juhu residence through social media posts. Last month, he was also reportedly linked to a network accused of supplying weapons in connection with the firing targeting actor Tiger Shroff.

Originally from Rajasthan, Boxer played an important role in running the Lawrence Bishnoi gang's extortion operations from abroad.

He earned the nickname 'Boxer' after learning the sport during his stay in Jaipur. He initially took part in minor fights but later became involved in crimes such as robbery and attempted murder. More than 10 cases were registered against him across several Indian districts, including Jaipur, Alwar, Sikar, Dholpur and Karauli.

Boxer fled to the United States in 2022.

Operating from North America, Boxer became widely known for carrying out threats and intimidation campaigns against prominent personalities in the Indian entertainment industry.

He was directly linked to the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Mumbai residence and later claimed responsibility for the attack.

Following the incident, Boxer shared threatening social media posts and audio clips targeting Bollywood personalities, warning them of serious consequences.

According to police records, he faces several serious criminal cases across different states, including murder, attempted murder, armed attacks and extortion. Indian agencies are now coordinating efforts to bring him back to India to face legal action.

Last month, two other gangsters, Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria, were arrested in the US. Both were wanted in India in connection with several murder cases and organised crime.
