Mumbai on alert after bomb threat email names Amitabh Bachchan’s Jalsa, Bombay High Court and BSE
PTC Web Desk: Mumbai’s security agencies are on high alert after a threat email claimed bombs had been planted at four places in the city. These are Amitabh Bachchan’s home Jalsa, the Bombay High Court, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and Worli Racecourse.
The email landed in the inbox of the Bombay High Court. Soon after, the Mumbai Police began an investigation and passed the information to other security agencies. Officers are now trying to find out who sent the mail and whether the threat is real.
Bachchan’s name comes up again
This is not the first time in recent weeks that the actor’s name has appeared in a threat. On October 22, a threat email sent to a Mumbai school also mentioned him. The police said then that Bachchan himself had not been threatened directly.

The latest threat has also brought the actor’s safety into focus. On Sunday, Bachchan met his fans outside Jalsa as he usually does. This time, though, he stood behind a protective glass shield, with his son Abhishek Bachchan beside him.
The change did not go unnoticed. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has now written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him to step in. The group said it is worried about the safety of film stars and their families.
Series of threats in the film industry
The scare comes at a time when Bollywood is already on edge. On October 18, shots were fired at a car linked to actor Tiger Shroff. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility.
Earlier this week, actors Tusshar Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana also received threats in the name of the Bishnoi gang. The police are checking whether the audio recordings of these threats are genuine.
On Wednesday, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested a 30-year-old IT engineer from Bengaluru in connection with the threats to Kapoor and Khurrana. So far, the police have found no proof that he has any link to the Bishnoi gang.
Investigators say the probe into the bomb threat email is still on.
