Haryana teacher Manisha cremated amid heavy security in Bhiwani; internet suspension extended
Thousands of people including members of social groups, villagers, administration official and family members gathered to pay their final respects.
PTC News Desk: The last rights of 19-year-old Haryana teacher Manisha were conducted in Bhiwani on Thursday amid heavy police deployment. Her younger brother Nitesh lit the funeral pyre.
The body was directly brought to the crematorium from the Civil Hospital. Thousands of people including members of social groups, villagers, administration official and family members gathered to pay their final respects.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rajshree also attended the funeral and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
Manisha was found dead in in fields eight days ago, reportedly with a cut mark on her throat.
Farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni said, " The protestors are satisfied as their demands for a post mortem by AIIMs and a CBI investigation have been met. However we will continue to monitor the developments closely."
Meanwhile, the Haryana government has extended the suspension of internet services in Bhiwani taking into considerations the tensions across the region due to the incident. The restrictions earlier imposed for 48 hours, however extended on Thursday as the deceased was cremated at her native place.
