Heatwave 2024 | The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast warning of a looming heatwave across several regions of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, extending until May 10. Additionally, the IMD predicts hot and humid conditions prevailing in Gujarat until May 13, and in Kerala until May 10.
Issuing a heatwave alert across several cities across India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) posted a list of India’s hottest areas on its official X handle.

Heatwave 2024 Do’s
- Avoid going out in the sun, especially between noon and 3 p.m.
- Drink plenty of water as often as possible, even if you're not thirsty.
- Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting, permeable cotton garments.
- When going outside in the sun, use protective goggles, an umbrella/hat, and shoes or chappals.
- Block direct sunlight.
- Use ORS, homemade liquids like lassi, torani (rice water), lemon water, buttermilk, etc. to help rehydrate the body.
