PTC News Desk: Several Indians were reportedly among the victims of a major explosion at the Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar on Sunday evening. The blast killed 13 people and injured 66 others as workers were trying to restart operations that had been disrupted earlier by the Iran conflict.

Qatari authorities described the incident as a technical accident at the Barzan gas supply facility, which is part of the country's main liquefied natural gas (LNG) production hub. The explosion occurred while efforts were underway to restore energy production after months of disruptions caused by regional tensions.

"Embassy of India, Doha expresses deep concern at the unfortunate incident that occurred at the Ras Laffan Industrial City yesterday, in which several people got injured and some are missing as per authorities," the mission said in a statement.

While officials did not immediately release the nationalities of those killed or injured, the Embassy of India, Doha said several people had been injured and some were reported missing, raising concerns that Indians may be among the affected workers.

The powerful blast was felt far beyond the industrial site, with residents in Doha, located more than 70 kilometres away, reporting shaking windows and loud sounds that caused panic in several areas.

Qatar's Energy Ministry said the country's LNG export operations have not been affected and stressed that there is no environmental danger resulting from the incident.
