PTC Web Desk:  Security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jhangar area of Nowshera in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Tuesday, killing one terrorist while a search operation is underway to track down a second suspect.

According to the Army, the operation was launched after intelligence agencies received credible inputs about the movement of two terrorists in the Jhangar sector of Nowshera at around 3 pm on March 10.

Acting swiftly on the information, alert troops of the White Knight Corps intercepted the infiltrators and engaged them in a brief gunfight. During the operation, one Pakistani-sponsored terrorist was eliminated, successfully foiling the infiltration attempt and preventing any breach of the LoC.

The Army said additional troops have been deployed in the area and the search has been intensified to track down the second terrorist who is believed to be hiding in the vicinity.

Security forces are carrying out an extensive ground search operation, supported by aerial surveillance, to dominate the area and prevent any further infiltration attempts.

Officials said the security grid in the sector has been placed on high alert, with troops maintaining a robust operational posture along the LoC to ensure that no militant manages to cross over into Indian territory.
