PTC News Desk: The Karnataka government on Tuesday placed senior DGP-rank officer Ramachandra Rao under suspension after a video allegedly showing him in intimate moments with multiple women inside his office went viral on social media.

The move followed mounting controversy and public outrage over the officer’s alleged conduct while on duty. The matter reached Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday, who sought a detailed briefing from the concerned department. By the next day, the state government decided to suspend the senior police official. Sources said the Chief Minister was angered after viewing the footage and asked for an explanation on how such an incident could occur within the police establishment.

The episode also led to political pressure on the ruling Congress government, with opposition parties closely watching whether a formal inquiry or further disciplinary action would be initiated. The viral visuals reportedly show Rao, in uniform, hugging and kissing different women during office hours.

According to sources, the videos appear to have been secretly recorded inside the DGP’s office and show women visiting on separate occasions in different outfits, with Rao engaging closely with them while official work was in progress.
