Ludhiana: Six killed, several missing as pick up truck carrying pilgrims from Naina Devi plunges into canal

The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital and are undergoing treatment.

PTC News Desk: At least six killed and several missing after a pick-up truck carrying 25 pilgrims from Naina Devi plunged into a Sirhind canal from Jagera Bridge on the Malerkotla road near Dehlon in Ludhiana district late Sunday night.


Amongst the deceased were one woman and two children while several others are feared missing.


The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital and are undergoing treatment.


Some injured were referred to Ahmedgarh Mandi, while others were rushed to Ludhiana and Khanna hospitals.

  

According to the information, all the pilgrims were returnig to their village, Manakwal, after paying obeisance at Mata Naina Devi temple in Himachal Pradesh.


The police further said that most of the devotees have been rescued from the canal. Three bodies, including two children, have been recovered. Three people have been swept away in the water, rescue operations are underway.
