No shortage of petrol, diesel, supplies are secure: Hardeep Singh Puri in Parliament amid Middle East crisis
Hardeep Singh Puri said the overall fuel supply situation in India remains stable and comfortable, with sufficient inventories available to meet demand across the country.
PTC News Desk: The government on Thursday said that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, kerosene or LPG in the country. He also assured that the fuel availability remains stable and supply chains are functioning smoothly.
Speaking in Parliament, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that there is no concern over availability of the stocks as they are adequate.
“There is no shortage of diesel, petrol or kerosene. Their availability is fully assured and supply chains across the country are functioning smoothly,” the minister said.

The minister also addressed concerns over LPG availability, stating that domestic LPG supply continues to remain fully protected despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and disruptions in global energy markets.
According to Puri, India has significantly diversified its energy sourcing in recent years to reduce dependence on any single region. Earlier, nearly 60% of India’s LPG imports came from Gulf countries, but the government has since expanded its sourcing options to strengthen supply security and minimise vulnerability to regional disruptions.
The government’s assurance comes amid rising concerns over global energy supply disruptions and escalating geopolitical tensions, which have pushed up crude oil prices and triggered fears of shortages in several markets.
However, the government maintained that India’s fuel supply chain remains strong, with adequate reserves and diversified import sources in place to handle any potential disruptions.
