PTC News Desk: Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Monday broke his silence after facing several questions about his switch from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In a video on Instagram, he said the party had changed a lot and was no longer the same as when he joined.

The 37-year-old Rajya Sabha MP lost around a million followers in one day after leaving AAP. Chadha said the party now has a negative work environment where leaders are stopped from working and speaking in the Parliament. He added that he had spent 15 years building AAP as a founding member and had put in a lot of effort and dedication.

Explaining his move, he said he no longer felt comfortable in the party and described himself as “the right person in the wrong party.” He said he considered quitting politics or trying to fix things within AAP, but finally decided to join another party.

Chadha, along with six other AAP Rajya Sabha MPs — Ashok Kumar Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, Sandeep Kumar Pathak, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Swati Maliwal, and Rajinder Gupta — joined the BJP on April 24. All of them are now listed among the BJP’s Rajya Sabha MPs.

He said this was not just his personal decision, pointing out that several MPs left together. He added that while one or two people can be wrong, it is unlikely that all seven would be.

Chadha also denied leaving due to fear or pressure, saying the decision came from disappointment and frustration with how the party was functioning. He made it clear that he will stay active in politics and continue raising public issues, promising to work with even more energy going forward.
