US embassy grants visa to family of Indian student Nilam Shinde

Shinde, a final year student at an American university, was struck by a four-wheeler in California.

PTC News Desk: After several days of appeal, the US embassy has finally granted visa to the family of Nilam Shinde, Indian comatose student who met with a tragic accident and is battling for her life. 


Shinde, a final year student at an American university, was struck by a four-wheeler in California.

The development comes a day after centre reached out to US government in order toget emergency visa for Nilam's family. 

The United States had scheduled visa interview scheduled on Friday at 9 am for an emergency visa to the father of Nilam Shinde who is in critical comastate after sustaining injuries due to accident.


The family of the girl in a desperate appeal urged the central government to expediate the visa process after they learnt about their daughter's accident. 


Neelam Shinde, 35, is in a critical state as she suffered multiple fractures and injuries to her chest and head after a four wheeler hit her in California on February 14. Her family learnt about her accident two days later.  In the wake of her condition, the hospital sent an e-mail to the family, asking them to come to the US as soon as possible.
