Brazilian model voted 22 times in Haryana, EC helped: Rahul Gandhis bombshell, BJP counters
What he called "100 per cent proof", Gandhi claimed that 25 lakh fake votes, or about 12 per cent of the state’s electorate, were cast. He alleged there was "systemic manipulation" to turn a Congress victory into defeat.
PTC News Desk: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi upped his ante and doubled down his assertion over 'vote chori' attack against the BJP and Election Commission, alleging massive voter fraud in the 2024 Haryana assembly elections.
What he called "100 per cent proof", Gandhi claimed that 25 lakh fake votes, or about 12 per cent of the state’s electorate, were cast. He alleged there was "systemic manipulation" to turn a Congress victory into defeat.
"Haryana has 2 crore voters, and 25 lakh of them are fake," Gandhi said at a press conference in Delhi, adding that his team had uncovered 5.21 lakh duplicate voter entries. "One in every eight voters in Haryana is fake."
The Congress leader showcased slides highlighting alleged irregularities in voter lists, including one striking example — a Brazilian model’s photograph reportedly appearing multiple times under different names such as Seema, Sweety, and Saraswati, allegedly to enable 22 fraudulent votes. Gandhi accused the BJP of running a “well-planned operation” to undermine the democratic process.
“Every exit poll predicted a Congress win in Haryana,” he said. “But for the first time in the state’s history, postal ballots did not align with the actual vote count. This was part of a deliberate plan to turn a clear Congress victory into defeat.”
Gandhi also mocked Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini, referring to a post-election video. “Just look at the smile on his face and the ‘vyavastha’ (arrangement) he’s mentioning,” Gandhi remarked. “That was two days after polling, when everyone believed Congress was winning.”
Claiming his assertions were supported by verified data, Gandhi said he was questioning “not just the Election Commission, but the entire democratic system.” He reiterated his accusation that the EC and the BJP were colluding.
“Why isn’t the Election Commission removing duplicate entries?” he asked. “If it did, elections would be fair. But clearly, the EC doesn’t want that.”
“This is undeniable proof of the BJP’s manipulation — and of the EC’s complicity,” Gandhi alleged. He further claimed that, with the poll panel’s support, the BJP was preparing to use the same “stolen government” strategy in Bihar, which goes to polls tomorrow.
In response to Rahul Gandhi's allegations, Union Minister Kiren Rijuju said if the Congress has concerns about voter lists, it can approach the Election Commission. "If it does not feel the Election Commission will do justice, it can go to the courts. But it does not trust the system and keeps blaming EVMs and the Election Commission for its failures."
