PTC Web Desk: In a recent address at Sashakt Nari-Viksit Bharat programme in New Delhi on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the transformative impact of his government's women-centric initiatives. Stating that a society's progress hinges on enhancing women's status and providing opportunities for them, PM Modi expressed confidence in his government's commitment to advancing women's empowerment during his anticipated third term.

Highlighting the BJP government's dedication to women's welfare, PM Narendra Modi referenced a range of schemes tailored to address women's needs at different life stages. He claimed that while previous administrations did not prioritise women's lives and challenges, the BJP had introduced various initiatives to support women comprehensively.

PM Modi underscored his distinction as the first PM to address critical women-centric issues, such as the lack of toilets, the use of sanitary pads, the adverse effects of kitchen fuels like wood and coal, and the necessity of bank accounts. He recalled facing ridicule and insults from political opponents for discussing these issues in his speeches from the Red Fort on Independence Day.

Asserting that his policies for women are shaped by personal observations and experiences in his home, neighbourhood, and during travels to villages, PM Modi announced that over Rs 8 lakh crore has been disbursed among women through various government schemes. He celebrated the achievement of over 1 crore women becoming 'Lakhpati Didis'.

Reflecting on his belief that even a small assistance to women can empower them to support others, PM Modi criticised politicians who prioritise their families over understanding the transformative impact of empowering women.

At 'Sashakt Nari-Viksit Bharat' event, PM Modi disbursed approximately Rs 8,000 crore as bank loans to self-help groups (SHGs). He interacted with women beneficiaries from different regions, inquiring about their work and commending their dedication. The event also saw the felicitation of 'Lakhpati Didis' who achieved success through the 'Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission' and actively contribute to the upliftment of other self-help group members.

The PM introduced new initiatives during the event, distributing drones to 1,000 'Namo Drone Didis' chosen to operate drones for agricultural purposes. Additionally, about Rs 2,000 crore was disbursed as the Capitalisation Support Fund to SHGs.

The 'Namo Drone Didi' and 'Lakhpati Didi' initiatives align with PM Modi's vision of fostering economic empowerment and financial autonomy among women, especially in rural areas. These efforts aim to provide women with the tools and resources necessary to contribute actively to the country's economic growth.
