PTC Web Desk: Vikramjit Singh, a wanted accused in the 2023 Ajnala police station clash case and a member of the Waris Punjab De organisation, has been arrested by the UP Police while allegedly attempting to enter India illegally through the Nepal border.

An American citizen, Manveer Singh, was also detained during the operation. The police also arrested three other persons accused of helping the duo cross the border illegally.

According to the UP police, Vikramjit Singh and Manveer Singh were taken into custody during routine checking near the India-Nepal border.

Officials said both were allegedly trying to enter India without valid travel documents. SP Vishwajeet Srivastava confirmed that legal action has been initiated under the Foreigners Act and other relevant provisions.

The police said Vikramjit Singh had been on the run for more than two years in connection with the Ajnala clash case. During this period, he allegedly stayed at several locations, including Mumbai, Rajasthan, Delhi and Udhampur, before moving to Kathmandu, Nepal, about a year ago.

Vikramjit Singh is accused of participating in the February 2023 protest outside Ajnala police station, led by Waris Punjab De chief and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh. The protest was organised to demand the release of Lovepreet Singh alias Toofan, who had been arrested in an attempt-to-murder case.
