Miri Piri Khalsa march begins from Sri Akal Takht on Miri Piri Day, Sikh leaders call for unity | Watch LIVE
PTC Web Desk: The Miri Piri Khalsa March was flagged off from Sri Akal Takht in Amritsar on the occasion of Miri Piri Day, with thousands of devotees participating in the religious procession.
Organised by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the march will travel through different parts of Punjab before concluding at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib on August 4, following long-standing Sikh traditions.
Addressing the Sikh community, acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, urged Sikhs to remain united against what he described as internal and external challenges facing the community.

The holy procession is headed by the Panj Pyare and a specially arranged vehicle carrying sacred Sri Guru Granth Sahib. School bands performed devotional tunes, while Nihang Singh groups and Gatka teams showcased traditional Sikh martial arts along the route.
Before the march began, Akhand Path Sahib concluded at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, followed by Gurbani Kirtan, Ardas and Hukamnama.
On the occasion, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj also displayed the symbolic Miri-Piri swords associated with Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib and highlighted the historical significance of the day.
During his address, Jathedar Gargaj alleged that Sikh institutions continue to face challenges and urged the community to remain politically and socially united.
SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami congratulated the Sikh community on Miri Piri Day and said discussions would be held to continue organising the Khalsa March or Nagar Kirtan on this occasion in the future.
Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal encouraged the Sikh community to participate in the march, while senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia said the procession would inspire a renewed sense of awareness and unity among Sikhs.
Several prominent Sikh religious leaders attended the event, including senior Granthis from Sri Harmandir Sahib, representatives from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib and other respected members of the Sikh clergy.
