PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening spoke to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann soon after landing in New Delhi to take stock of the worsening flood situation in the state.
Soon after returning from his two-nation visit to Japan and China, PM Modi called Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and assured full assistance as the state grapples with its “worst floods in recent history.”
Punjab has been severely hit by floods caused by heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, along with seasonal rivulets. With the Beas and Ghaggar overflowing and floodwaters from the Ravi entering Gurdaspur (Dera Baba Nanak and Kalanaur) and Ajnala in Amritsar, the situation in the state remains extremely critical.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visit flood affected areas in Hoshiarpur to assess the damages caused by torrential rains.
Hoshiarpur MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal, speaking about the CM’s visit, said: “Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited Tanda, where he met flood-affected people and reviewed water supply and medical services. He then visited the area near the Beas River bridge at Rada, met with locals, and assured them that all issues related to the flood and the dam would be resolved. I have also donated ₹50 lakh from my MP fund to support relief efforts in the affected areas.”
