Punjab: Intelligence agencies warn of terror attacks on New Year; high alert issued

Punjab, December 29: Intelligence agencies on Thursday warned that terrorists may hatch a big conspiracy on the occasion of New Year. Meanwhile, the Punjab Police has issued an alert. On the basis of information received from central intelligence agencies, an alert has been issued for terrorist attack on police stations and government buildings.  This comes day after the Punjab Police busted a network of cross-border smugglers and arrested two people and recovered 10 kg of heroin, weapons and cartridges from their possession. For the past several months, cases of drones have increased from across the Pakistan border.

More recently, the Tarn Taran police on Tuesday busted a sub-module in further investigation into the rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack at Sarhali police station, which was on the instructions of Canada-based gangster-turned-terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Landa being operated from the Philippines.
