Punjab man arrested on espionage charges, shared Army movements during Operation Sindoor with ISI

The suspect has been identified as Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan who is a resident ofof Mohalla Rodupur, Gali Nazar Singh Wali in Tarn Taran.

PTC News Desk: In a significant development, the Counter-Intelligence-Punjab has arrested a man from Tarn Taran  on charges of spying for Pakistan and sharing sensitive information. The accused had shared the critical Army Movements during Operation Sindoor.


The suspect has been identified as Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan who is a resident of Mohalla Rodupur, Gali Nazar Singh Wali in Tarn Taran. He leaked sensitive classified information, including details of troop deployments and strategic locations, posing a serious threat to national security, officials said.


Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav took to his social media and confirmed the development. "Acting swiftly on information received from Counter-Intelligence-Punjab, 

TarnTaranPolice in a joint operation arrests Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan, a resident of Mohalla Rodupur, Gali Nazar Singh Wali, TarnTaran," DGP said.


"Arrested accused had been in contact with the #Pakistan #ISI and Gopal Singh Chawla, sharing sensitive information concerning army movements during #OperationSindhoor," he added.


The preliminary investigation suggests that the accused had been in contact with with Pakistan-based Khalistani supporter Gopal Singh Chawla for the past five years.


"Preliminary investigation reveals that Gagandeep Singh had been in touch with Pakistan-based Khalistani supporter Gopal Singh Chawla for the past five years, through whom he was introduced to the Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs). He also received payments from #PIOs via #Indianchannels," the Director General of Punjab Police, Gaurav Yadav, said.


The police officials have also recovered a mobile phone containing intelligence that he shared with Pakistan. An FIR has been registered under the Official Secrets Act at PS City, Tarn Taran, and further investigation is in progress. Further investigation to dismantle the massive espionage network has been launched. 


Gagandeep Singh's arrest marks the latest in a series of arrests of alleged spies following the Pahalgam attack, in which Pakistan-based terrorists killed 26 people, as security agencies have intensified their anti-espionage operations.
