PTC Web Desk: Summer vacations in schools across Punjab officially end today, with all government and private schools set to reopen on July 1 as scheduled. The Punjab School Education Department has not announced any extension to the holiday period, putting an end to speculation circulating on social media.

According to the department's earlier notification, academic activities will resume from Tuesday and students are expected to attend classes as per the regular school schedule. Authorities have advised parents and students to rely only on official government announcements and avoid misinformation regarding any extension of summer vacations.

Meanwhile, humid weather continues to prevail across the state, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to advise children, elderly people and other vulnerable groups to avoid outdoor activities during the afternoon hours due to the uncomfortable heat conditions.

Weather update

The weather is expected to witness a gradual change from July 1 as pre-monsoon activity begins to strengthen across Punjab.

The IMD has not issued any weather warning for June 30, although isolated areas may experience cloudy skies and light rainfall.

However, from July 1, a Yellow Alert has been issued for several eastern and northern districts, including Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahr), Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Mohali, Patiala, Sangrur, and Pathankot.

These districts are likely to witness thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds with speeds ranging between 40 and 50 kmph as pre-monsoon conditions become active.

The weather department has urged residents to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions and follow official advisories. Meanwhile, schools across Punjab will resume normal operations from Tuesday without any change in the vacation schedule.
