Punjab to host Asia Hockey Championship for first time, matches to be held in Mohali, Jalandhar

The top six teams from the Asian Games will participate in the tournament, and India is expected to be among them.

PTC News Desk: India is all set to host Asia Hockey Championship for the first time in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced at a press conference in Chandigarh.


Punjab will be hosting international hockey matches for the first time. 


“It will be for the first time that Punjab will be hosting an international hockey event. The matches will be played in Mohali and Jalandhar,” said Chief Minister Mann. 


Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann while addressing a press conference said that the top six teams from the Asian Games will participate in the tournament, and India is expected to be among them.


The matches will commence on October 26. 


Punjab has also been given the chance to host the Under-13 national badminton championships after 44 years, with the event set to take place in Jalandhar.



CM Mann further said the diet allowance for players has been increased to ₹480. Dedicated chefs will also be appointed to ensure players receive proper nutrition, allowing them to focus fully on their training.
