PTC News Desk: In a significant breakthrough, Amritsar police has arrested a village sarpanch and two of his associates. Police have also seized 4 kg of heroine along with illegal weapons from them. The three were reportedly transporting heroine in a Scorpio SUV with a VIP number plate.

The accused have been identified as Lovepreet Singh from Kot Hirdaram, Simarpreet Singh, and Balwant Singh from Patti Sunh, Verka.

Following the arrest, photos of the sarpanch with AAP leaders began circulating on social media. These images allegedly include leaders ranging from a local constituency in-charge in Amritsar to state- and national-level figures.

Police have also not disclosed full details publicly, and the identities of the AAP leaders in the photos have not been revealed.

According to ASI Palwinder Singh from Mehta police station, the arests were made after they received credible inputs that they will be travelling in a Scorpia from Buttar Kalan towards Kathuanangal and can be caught red handed if timely checkpoints were set up.

Acting on the information, the police set up a blockade near the OAT Centre and intercepted the vehicle. Upon searching it, officers recovered 4.3 kg of heroin, a .30 bore pistol, and four live cartridges. The police seized the drugs, weapons, and vehicle, and arrested all three accused.
