Former Punjab minister, his PA arrested in DM Gagandeep Singh Randhawa's death case
PTC News Desk: Former Punjab Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and his PA were arrested on Monday by Fatehgarh Sahib police in connection with Punjab Warehousing Corporation district manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa's death case.
The arrest comes hours after the deceased family issued a 24-hour ultimatum to arrest Bhullar and warned of widespread demonstration if the arrest were not made in stipulated time frame. The family also said that they will not allow a post mortem examination until
Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar confirmed that Bhullar was arrested from Mandi Gobindgarh.
Hours before Bhullar's arrest, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured a CBI probe into the matter and sough writter representation from the Punjab MPs.
The FIR had been registered under sections 108 (abetment to suicide), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the complainant, Upinder Kaur, wife of the deceased, the conflict began over tenders issued in October 2025 for new warehouses in the Patti and Khemkaran areas of Tarn Taran. She also alleged that her husband was tortured to an extent that it pushed him to end his life.
Gagandeep Singh Randhawa used to work as district manager Punjab State Warehousing Corporation. He allegedly died by suicide on Saturday and blamed Laljit Singh Bhullar of mentally harassing him and physicallly torturing him over warehouse construction tenders in the Patti and Khemkaran areas of Tarn Taran.
