SGPC passes strong resolutions against Bhagwant Mann, calls for legal action and resignation
SGPC General House meeting passed key resolutions demanding legal action against Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, opposing Hazur Sahib Act changes and calling for a Panthic gathering on July 5
PTC Web Desk: The SGPC general house meeting held on Saturday witnessed the passing of several major resolutions on religious and political issues.
The SGPC general house meeting also took a strong stand on issues related to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the management of Sikh Takhts and the functioning of religious institutions.
During the SGPC general house meeting, members passed a resolution demanding legal action against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over an ongoing dispute linked to Sri Akal Takht Sahib, alleging that he had not provided a clear or satisfactory response on the matter.
SGPC seeks action against Punjab CM
The House stated that the Chief Minister has lost the moral right to continue in office and should resign. It further demanded that a criminal case be registered against him and legal proceedings be initiated over the issue.
Te SGPC also alleged misuse of government machinery and claimed that a “false laboratory report” was prepared in connection with the matter. The resolution stated that the truth has already come out and that an FIR has been registered in Haryana.
Appeal for Panthic unity under Sri Akal Takht Sahib
The SGPC appealed to the Sikh community to unite under the leadership of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and follow Sikh principles with discipline and unity.
The organisation announced that awareness campaigns will be launched across constituencies to educate devotees about the directives issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Religious preaching teams will be deployed to encourage adherence to Sikh religious orders.
The SGPC also urged all Sikh institutions, gurdwara committees and religious organisations to actively participate in this campaign.
Opposition to Maharashtra govt decision
The SGPC strongly opposed the Maharashtra Government’s decision to amend the 1956 Act related to Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib. The resolution stated that no government interference in the administrative or religious autonomy of one of the five Sikh Takhts would be accepted. The SGPC urged the Maharashtra Government to retain the original provisions of the 1956 Act.
Panthic gathering announced for July 5
The SGPC announced a major Panthic gathering to be held on July 5 at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on the occasion of the establishment day of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
The meeting will begin at 11 am and will include participation from various Sikh organisations, including Damdami Taksal, Nihang Singh groups, gurdwara committees, scholars, intellectuals and members of the Sikh community.
