PTC News Desk: A drunk truck driver drove his vehicle onto the rail tracks near Ludhiana's Giaspura for at least one km on Friday night just minutes before the Golden Temple Express was to cross the stretch.

When the truck became stuck on the railway track, the driver abandoned it and fled.

According to Government Railway Police (GRP) Investigating Officer Jasvir Singh, the truck driver drove his vehicle onto the main Ludhiana-Delhi railway track on Friday night and began moving towards the Ludhiana railway station from Sherpur before getting stuck.

However, the tragedy was averted as locals who spotted the truck on the track informed the railway authorities in time.

According to police, the truck was later removed from the track and the driver was arrested.

They said the rail traffic was disrupted for a while but was restored after about an hour. According to them, a medical examination of the driver revealed that he was under the influence of alcohol.
