Punjab and Haryana HC issues notice to govt over ED letters to Punjab DGP
The High Court asked the Punjab government to explain what action it has taken so far on the ED’s letter.
PTC News Desk: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday issued notices to the Punjab Government, CBI, ED and all other concerned parties over a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) concerning a letter sent by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to the Punjab DGP.
The High Court asked the Punjab government to explain what action it has taken so far on the ED’s letter. Calling the matter “very serious,” the court directed the government to clearly state its position and explain what steps are being taken.

The petitioner has sought a CBI investigation into all the issues raised by the ED.
The PIL was filed by Advocate Nikhil Saraf.
In the petition, Saraf said the ED’s letter several serious allegations have been levelled against the officials linked to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office.
The petitioner argued that the cases should be handed over to the CBI for a fair and independent investigation, free from the influence of the Punjab Police and Punjab Vigilance. He also sought a detailed investigation into the money trail and strict action against those found responsible.
The ED had earlier written to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, seeking registration of a criminal case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s OSD Rajbir Singh Ghuman and his associates Nitin Gohal and Bir Devinder.
The agency has alleged that they were interfering in administrative transfers and postings as well as government tenders.
