PTC News Desk: Amritsar Counter Intelligence has busted a network allegedly involved in the illegal trafficking of weapons and arrested two suspects. The authorities also recovered 10 sophisticated pistols, magazines and 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition from their possession. The action was taken as part of Punjab’s ongoing crackdown on illegal weapons.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested suspects were allegedly in contact with a handler based abroad. Security agencies suspect that the accused received illegal weapons through cross-border channels and then supplied them to different people in Punjab.

After their alleged links with the foreign handler came to light, investigating agencies are working to uncover the entire network. Police are trying to determine how the weapons reached Punjab and identify everyone involved in the operation.

Accused being interrogated

Investigators are also trying to find out who was supposed to receive the recovered weapons. They are checking whether the accused had previously received or supplied any other consignments of weapons.

An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell police station in Amritsar. Police are questioning the accused to identify other people linked to the network.

Investigating agencies are gathering information about the source of the weapons, the accused’s contacts and potential buyers.

According to police, special attention is being given to both the forward and backward links of the network to trace the entire chain, from the source of the weapons to their final delivery.
