Punjab man killed in Kuwait building fire, family seeks help to repatriate mortal remains

The fire broke out at around 1 a.m. while Singh was on the second floor of the building, according to Satpal Singh, a family relative.

Punjab man killed in Kuwait building fire, family seeks help to repatriate mortal remains

PTC News Desk: A 35-year-old man from Punjab's Majitha died after a fire broke out at a four-storey building in Kuwait, after reportedly helping other residents escape before he was trapped inside, his family said.

The deceased has been identified as Jagtar Singh, from Pandher Kalan village who had been living in Kuwait for around five years. He was the sole bread winner of the family and is survived by his wife and two young children.

The fire broke out at around 1 a.m. while Singh was on the second floor of the building, according to Satpal Singh, a family relative.

Jagtar was reportedly planning to return to Punjab soon, however his family now awaits for his mortal remains. 

Singh's family has appealed the governments at both central and state level to to help early repatriation of the mortal remains from Kuwait so that the last rites can be performed in the village.

Jagtar belonged to a humble family.

His family has also sought administrative assistance as they cannot bear the cost of bringing the body back from abroad.
