Punjab’s coronavirus graph shows sharp spike in cases

Coronavirus Punjab Updates: The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has increased to 1,94,753 after 1,414 new cases of COVID-19 were reported from the state.

According to the media bulleting issued by the Punjab Health Department on Friday evening, Ludhiana reported 133 new cases while Jalandhar reported 124.

Likewise, Patiala reported 152, Mohali 194, Amritsar 112, Gurdaspur 54, Bathinda 29, Hoshiarpur 188, Ferozepur 48, Pathankot 11, Sangrur 20, Kapurthala 109, Faridkot 30, Muktsar 12, Fazilka 27, Moga 17, Ropar 9, Fatehgarh Sahib 47, Barnala 2, Tarn Taran 30 and SBS Nagar 66.

Similarly, Punjab reported 34 new deaths due to coronavirus. While giving coronavirus updates, the Punjab Health Department stated that 34 new deaths were reported that include 5 from Amritsar, 1 from Fazilka, 2 from Gurdaspur and 5 from Hoshiarpur.

Jalandhar reported 6 new deaths while Kapurthala reported 3, Ludhiana 1, SAS Nagar 6, Ropar 1, Sangrur 1, SBS Nagar 1, and Tarn Taran 2.

Meanwhile, the Department of School Education, Punjab, in view of present surge in COVID-19, declared preparatory leaves for all classes in government, government aided and private schools, said the School Education Minister, Vijay Inder Singla.

It is pertinent to mention that the Punjab government has already announced several curbs in an order to contain the spread of coronavirus. These include restrictions on gathering to 100 indoor and 200 outdoor.

Also, several districts have imposed night curfew in the wake of growing concerns over rising cases of COVID-19 in Punjab.
