Rajya Sabha passes reservation bill providing reservation for ‘economically weaker’ general category A day after the Lok Sabha passed the upper caste reservation bill, the Rajya Sabha also passed the reservation bill providing reservation for ‘economically weaker’ general category. A total number of 165 members voted in favour of the bill while 7 voted against it in Rajya Sabha. The bill promises to provide 10% reservation to economically backward sections (EWS) in the upper caste in educational institutions and jobs.
