10 Kanpur schools get bomb blast threat emails
PTC News Desk: Continuing the thread of schools and hospitals getting bomb threat emails and calls in several cities across India, at least 10 schools in Kanpur received threatening emails on Wednesday.
The incident triggered panic in the city.
According to the initial investigation, the emails threatening to blow up the schools have come through servers based in Russia. After receiving the threat, the district administration rushed the bomb disposal squad to the schools to sanitise the premises.
Harish Chander, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), stated that the police's cyber cell is investigating the case.
"Kanpur Police received information about a bomb threat to several schools. The cyber cell is investigating the situation. All officials have been instructed to thoroughly monitor CCTV footage in order to establish a link between this threat and previous bomb threats received by multiple schools, airports, and hospitals," he was quoted as saying by media.
He also advised parents not to cause a panic situation.
On Tuesday, eight Bengaluru schools has got emails threatening bomb blasts. Last week, the city's popular hospital chain, St Philomena, received a bomb threat. All of these threatening emails were later revealed to be hoaxes.
