Taliban attack on Afghan spy agency's training centre kills 126

At least 126 members of the Afghan security forces were killed and more than 50 others were injured in Taliban attack on Afghan security forces inside a military compound on Monday.  The incident took place in central Maidan Wardak province.

The Taliban attackers rammed a car full of explosives through a military checkpoint. They detonated the vehicle inside the campus of National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces training centre. The explosion was so powerful that the whole building collapsed.

Following the attack, two gunmen entered the campus. They shot at many Afghan soldiers before being gunned down. The injured were rushed to Kabul hospitals.

In a primary investigation, Defence Ministry revealed that the Taliban used US-made armoured Humvee vehicles captured from Afghan forces as a car bomb.

According to media reports, the Afghan Ministry was hiding the accurate casualty figures to prevent a further dip in morale of the Afghan forces.
