Mumbai, May 14: The Indian film "The Kerala Story" has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in just nine days after its release, making it the fourth Hindi film to join the prestigious club in 2023.

Directed by Sudipto Sen, the film delves into the story of women from Kerala who were allegedly converted to Islam and forced to join ISIS. Renowned film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the collections of the film on Twitter, calling it a "one-horse race" and predicting that its business on the second Sunday would be huge again. He also mentioned that the film is the fourth Hindi film to cross the Rs100 crore mark in 2023, after "Pathaan" in January, "TuJhoothiMainMakkaar" in March, and "KisiKaBhaiKisiKiJaan" in April.

After just one week of its release in India, "The Kerala Story" was released in over 200 screens in the US and Canada on Friday. Director Sudipto Sen, speaking at a virtual news conference, described the film as a mission beyond the creative boundaries of cinema, and a movement that should raise awareness among the masses all over the world.

Producer Vipul Shah added that the film's subject was hidden from the masses and deserved to be told, and that the film was made to initiate deliberation worldwide.

Despite controversy surrounding its release, "The Kerala Story" has proven to be a commercial success, cementing its place in the Rs 100 crore club and continuing to draw audiences to cinemas.
