Mumbai, October 27: The first episode of Season 8 of "Koffee with Karan" featured the star couple, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. During their candid conversation, Deepika shared insights into their relationship journey, including a phase of casual dating before they tied the knot. However, her "casual dating" comment didn't sit well with some on the internet, who went on to express their opinions. Amidst the online commotion, actor-comedian Vir Das stepped in to voice his support for Deepika.

Taking to his social media platform, Vir Das expressed his solidarity with Deepika and delivered a witty perspective on the situation. He wrote, "Moment of silence for all the men who are upset that a Bollywood star way out of their league was casually dating for a while, and wasn’t as committed as their imaginary girlfriend is to them."

Vir Das's humorous take on the matter received positive responses from his followers. One user commented, "Nailed it," while another expressed confusion over the concept of "league." They said, "Not sure what he means by ‘league’ here. This is a league that no normal Indian man wants to be a part of - real or imaginary, even in Bollywood." A third comment simply read, "This explains it!"

In the episode of "Koffee with Karan," Deepika Padukone opened up about her desire to remain single for a period following difficult previous relationships. She explained, "I wanted to be single for a while because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I said 'I just don't want to be attached, don't want to be committed'. And I had fun! And then he comes along, so I didn't commit, until he proposed to me. There was no 'commitment as such. Even if we were technically allowed to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other."

Towards the end of the episode, Deepika playfully inquired about who her suitors were before Ranveer. In response, a mildly irritated Ranveer commented, “Abhi toh tumne bola I was seeing other people but I would go back to him. Tumko ab yaad nahi aa raha hai (Just a few minutes ago you said you were seeing other people and now you can't remember)?” Deepika humorously responded, "I can’t remember the people," to which Ranveer playfully insisted, "I remember very clearly." Their exchange showcased the playful dynamics of their relationship.

Vir Das's timely intervention brought humor to the situation and underlined the importance of not taking celebrity relationships too seriously.
