Armed robbers target finance firm employee, loot Rs 10 lakh in Amritsar

Amritsar, June 12: In a shocking incident in Amritsar, four armed men reportedly robbed a finance firm employee of approximately Rs 10 lakh near the old octroi post on Monday morning.

The victim, identified as Sharanjit Singh, was en route to Kabir Park when the incident occurred. The assailants allegedly threw chilli powder in his eyes and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons in an attempt to snatch the bag containing the money.

Despite the assault, Sharanjit refused to let go of the bag, prompting the culprits to brandish a pistol. Fearing for his safety, he eventually relinquished the bag. Following the ordeal, Sharanjit was rushed to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The local police promptly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Surinder Singh confirmed that the police are actively examining CCTV footage to identify and trace the accused individuals involved in the robbery.

The incident has sparked concerns regarding the safety and security of individuals involved in handling large sums of money. Authorities are determined to bring the culprits to justice and prevent such incidents in the future.
