Ganesh Visarjan 2025

The festival spans 10 days and concludes with Ganesh Visarjan on Saturday, September 6, when devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha through grand immersion processions.

Why is Ganesh Chaturthi celebrated?

The festival marks the birth of Lord Ganesha. As per Hindu mythology, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha from sandalwood paste to guard her during her bath. When Lord Shiva returned and was stopped by Ganesha, he beheaded the boy in anger. Later, on Parvati's request, Shiva revived Ganesha by placing an elephant’s head on his body.
