Truck driver transporting arms and ammunition from PoK arrested

Uri: Police today arrested a truck driver for transporting arms and ammunition in his truck from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Acting on intelligence input about arms and ammunition being transported on a truck meant for cross-Line of Control trade, police set up a naka in Uri area.

The truck (JK03B 1586), which was returning from Chakoti in PoK, was stopped at the naka and when it was searched, a Chinese pistol, two magazines, 14 bullets, four AK magazines, 120 AK bullets and two Chinese grenades were found hidden in a secret compartment, which was purpose built to hide and transport arms and ammunition.

The driver, Irshad Ahmad Mantoo, a resident of Kulgam, received the consignment from a militant in Chakoti and was going to deliver it to militants in South Kashmir.
