Washington, June 19: WhatsApp has rolled out a number of new features, including the option to mute others during group calls.
According to a report by The Verge, this sanity-saving tool appears to be useful not only for muting people who fail to do so, but also if you're in the same room as someone else in the conversation and don't want to hear an echo of their words.
Where some conferencing programmes, such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams, allow hosts to mute all or particular participants, most don't allow individual users to mute anybody they wish during a video call session.
This feature offers a new degree of control that's probably best reserved for frantic meetings with up to eight individuals on video calls or 32 on audio conversations.
In addition to the new muting feature, the social media platform also allows you to message individuals while on a group call, which is great if you need to send someone a note or make a joke that might not be received well by the entire group.

According to The Verge, WhatsApp is also releasing a new banner that will inform you when someone joins a call after it has already started.
The messaging app is developing more than just its group calling feature. You may now customise who sees your profile photo, about, and last seen status, which shows when you were last active on WhatsApp, according to WhatsApp.
This may help you keep your profile hidden from professional contacts or anyone else you don't want to have access to it 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Last year, WhatsApp began hiding your last seen status from outsiders by default, citing potential privacy concerns.
After allowing users to transfer their conversation data in the opposite direction (from iPhone to Android) last year, WhatsApp finally permitted Android users to move their chat histories to iPhones earlier this week.
