Shashi Tharoor voices concern over Bangladesh unrest

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed disappointment over the recent violent protests in Bangladesh, emphasising the need to maintain stable bilateral relations.

“I am very disappointed by the news coming from Bangladesh. The Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament recently issued a report urging the government to engage constructively with Bangladesh and work towards stabilising relations. This is a relationship in which we have a significant stake, after all, India played a key role in Bangladesh’s freedom in 1971. After all these years, we cannot suddenly abandon the people of Bangladesh. At the same time, the rising hostility against Indians, and those perceived to be supportive of India, is very concerning,” Tharoor said.
