PTC News Desk: A Punjab native named Kanwalpreet has been arrested in California, US, for allegedly running an international drug syndicate under the cover of the Around Pizza restaurant. The man, who reportedly entered the US illegally, allegedly used pizza deliveries to operate a network supplying dangerous drugs such as cocaine.

In a joint operation by California Police and the FBI, authorities reportedly recovered 40 kg of cocaine, several pistols and a large amount of cash in US dollars from his premises.

Kanwalpreet could face a life sentence and a heavy financial penalty if convicted of the charges.

Major cocaine syndicate exposed

According to investigators, 50-year-old Kanwalpreet had allegedly been secretly running a large drug syndicate for a long time. He reportedly used his restaurant network to supply drugs such as methamphetamine and cocaine to people in the area.

Investigators said he had built a large supply chain and was making substantial profits from the illegal business.

Drugs, weapons and cash recovered

Police reportedly received information about the alleged illegal operation and carried out planned raids at the accused’s home and other locations.

During the searches, authorities recovered around 40 kg of pure cocaine, several illegal pistols and a large amount of US currency.

The recovery of weapons has also raised concerns that the accused may have been involved in an organised and potentially violent criminal network in addition to drug trafficking.
