PTC News Desk: A close aid of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was recently photographed with Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Takha Saeed's son, exposing the ties between Pakistan's leadership and terror outfits.

Rana Sanaullah, Shehbaz Sharif's political advisor, was seen sharing stage with Talha Saeed, who is the son of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed, at a Faisalabad wedding.

However the exact date of the meeting could not be independently verified.

The incident comes days after a US report highlighted 15 active terror outfits in Pakistan -- many targeting India -- underscoring persistent global security concerns related to the South Asian nation.

The report states that several groups focused on India are still active in Pakistan, including Lashkar-e-Taiba, which carried out the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and Jaish-e-Mohammed, linked to the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament. It also highlights that Pakistan serves both as a base for these groups and as a target of their activities.

The country has seen a sharp rise in terrorism in recent years. After five years of declining deaths, which dropped to 365 in 2019, the number has increased every year, reaching 4,001 in 2025—the highest in 11 years.

The report adds that Pakistan is now the country most affected by terrorism, pointing to a rise in militancy after the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.
