Middle East Crisis: Indian national dies in Abu Dhabi, death toll rises to seven

Indian national death in UAE: With tensions continue to rise in West Asia, the news of deaths of an Indian national and a Pakistani citizen in Abu Dhabi after debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell in the area shook both nations today.

Authorities issue advisory

As per Abu Dhabi Media Office, three more persons sustained injuries in the incident. They are of Emirati, Jordanian, and Indian nationality. The public has been urged to rely only on official sources for information and avoid spreading rumours or unverified news. Officials have not yet released the identities of those who died.

Tensions mount in the region

Abu Dhabi is among the worst affected amid ongoing Middle East tensions. There have been continuous attacks by Iran on areas that have US military bases. Iran claims these actions are in response to earlier attacks that began on February 28. However, it is still not clear where the missile involved in this particular incident was launched from.

Now, the number of Indian nationals killed in the ongoing West Asia conflict has risen to seven.

Family seeks help after another death

In a separate incident, the family of a 26-year-old Indian man, Ravi Gopal, who died in a suspected missile attack in Riyadh, has sought government support. Ravi Gopal, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, had been working as a driver in a plastic factory in Saudi Arabia. His mortal remains have been brought back to his village in Sitapur with the help of the Ministry of External Affairs and local authorities. The last rites were done on Wednesday evening. Ravi Gopal is survived by his wife, parents  and a four-year-old son.  The family has urged financial compensation and a government job for his wife to support their livelihood.
