Punjab Assembly Elections 2022: Amritsar Central constituency is located in the Amritsar district of Punjab. It is one of the 117 seats of Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Om Parkash Soni from Congress won the last assembly elections and is the current MLA of Amritsar Central. He won the 2017 elections by defeating Tarun Chugh of BJP with a margin of 21,116 votes. Voters According to the voter list for the 2017 assembly elections, the total number of voters in the constituency is 1,35,869. 135 polling stations were established by the election commission during these elections. A total of 90,453 votes were cast in the Amritsar Central constituency and the percentage was 66.57%, which was recorded lower than the state average. Candidates Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Ajay Gupta, Congress' Om Parkash Soni and BJP's Tarun Chugh were MLA candidates for Amritsar Central constituency in the 2017 Punjab assembly elections. BJP at that time had an alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal and announced Tarun Chugh as its MLA candidate from the constituency. Om Parkash Soni (Congress) managed to grab 51,242 votes.
