Punjab Assembly Elections 2022: Amritsar West is located in the Amritsar district of Punjab. It is one of the 117 seats of Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Congress' Raj Kumar Verka won the last assembly elections and is the current MLA of Amritsar West. He won the 2017 elections by defeating Rakesh Gill of the Bharatiya Janata Party with a margin of 26,847 votes. Voters According to the voter list for the 2017 assembly elections, the total number of voters in the constituency is 1,78,678. 172 polling stations were established by the election commission during these elections. A total of 1,07,273 votes were cast in the Amritsar West constituency and the percentage was 60.04%, which was recorded lower than the state average. Candidates Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Balwinder Singh Sahota, Congress' Raj Kumar Verka and BJP's Rakesh Gill were MLA candidates for Amritsar West constituency in the 2017 assembly elections. BJP, at that time, had an alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal and announced Rakesh Gill as its MLA candidate for the constituency. Raj Kumar Verka (Congress) managed to grab 52,271 votes.
