Baldev Singh Kharia is a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly and the current MLA of Phillaur. In 2017, Singh Khaira won the Phillaur on a SAD ticket by beating the member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary of the INC with a margin of 3477 votes.
