Chandigarh: ‘0001’ fetches highest bid, auctioned for Rs 36.43 lakh
PTC News Desk: The highly coveted fancy registration number “0001” from the CH01-DA series set a new record, fetching Rs 36.43 lakh against a reserve price of Rs 50,000 in an e-auction conducted by the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) that concluded today.
The auction, held from August 19 to 22, included numbers from the new series (0001 to 9999) as well as leftover fancy numbers from previous series.
With a total of 577 numbers auctioned, the RLA generated its highest-ever revenue of Rs 4.08 crore. The second-highest bid went to “0003” at Rs 17.84 lakh, followed by “0009” at Rs 16.82 lakh. Other popular numbers included “0005” (Rs 16.51 lakh), “0007” (Rs 16.50 lakh), “0002” (Rs 13.80 lakh), and “9999” (Rs 10.25 lakh).
According to Pradhuman Singh, Director of the Transport Department, all seven numbers achieved record bids in their respective categories, leading to the highest profit in any RLA auction to date. Previously, the record for “0001” stood at Rs 31 lakh for the CH01-CZ series in May, when the RLA earned Rs 2.94 crore.
The third-highest bid was Rs 26.7 lakh for “0001” in the CH01-AP series, followed by Rs 25 lakh for the same number in the CH01-CY series.
