Coronavirus: India reports highest single-day spike in last 24 hours

India reported 311 deaths and the highest single-day spike of 11,929 new positive cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, as of Sunday morning. The total number of cases in the country has increased to at 3,20,922 including 1,49,348 active cases, 1,62,379 cured and discharged and 9,195 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. As the graph of coronavirus cases in India has been rising constantly, there are speculations that complete lockdown can be imposed again after June 15. However, the same has been denied by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has announced the stricter lockdown on weekends and public holidays. Earlier on May 8, AIIMS Director was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: "According to modeling data and the way our cases are increasing, it is likely that peak can come in June and July.
