Coronavirus: Death toll in Punjab rises to 7; confirmed cases 75

The death toll in Punjab has increased to 7 after a death was reported from Amritsar and Pathankot. According to the information, a 75-year-old female, a resident of Pathankot, died due to coronavirus at Guru Nanak Dev hospital in Amritsar. Meanwhile, a 65-year-old man passed away at Fortis hospital in Amritsar. However, Punjab Special Chief Secretary KBS Sidhu was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: "A 65-year-old man, who tested positive in preliminary test, died on Monday morning in Amritsar. He was admitted to a hospital on March 29 and had tested negative. COVID-19 infection has not been conclusively confirmed behind his death." Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has jumped to 75 after fresh cases were reported from Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib. A resident of Sector 68, Mohali, tested positive for coronavirus on Monday. Two positive cases were reported from Ropar. Reportedly, two primary contacts of coronavirus, 52-year-old woman and 16-year-old son tested positive for coronavirus. Likewise, one more positive case has been reported from Kapurthala. A 17-year-old boy tested positive for coronavirus. He had attended Tablighi Jamaat in Nizamuddin, Delhi. He was residing in a mosque along with other Jamaatis. He was a resident of Kot Karar Khan village in Kapurthala tehsil. Meanwhile, two cases have been reported from Fatehgarh Sahib. The contacts are being traced to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Third, a 65-year-old man who tested positive in Nayangaon, Mohali, died due to the pandemic. The fourth was Pooja who died due to coronavirus in Ludhiana and the fifth was, Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa who succumbed to the disease earlier this month. -PTC News
