The announcement was made via her official Instagram account, accompanied by a heartfelt message paying tribute to the legendary badminton icon and former World No. 1.

Sharing her deep connection with the sport, Deepika wrote, “As someone who grew up playing badminton, I’ve experienced firsthand how much this sport can shape one’s life — physically, mentally, and emotionally. Through PSB, we aim to spread the joy and discipline of badminton to people from all walks of life, nurturing a generation that is healthier, more focused, and inspired by sport.”

In a touching note to her father, she added, “Pappa, those who know you know your unwavering love for this sport. Even at 70, your life revolves around badminton. We are committed to bringing your passion to life — Badminton for All! Happy 70th Birthday, Pappa!”

According to the official press release, the Padukone School of Badminton has already established more than 75 grassroots-level coaching centres across 18 cities in India, including Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Jaipur, Mysuru, Nashik, Dehradun, Panipat, Coimbatore, and Surat, within just one year of launch. The initiative aims to scale up operations to 250 centres by 2027.

The academy is focused on making high-quality coaching accessible and affordable to aspiring players of all ages and skill levels. With over 100 certified coaches trained through a structured program, PSB is committed to maintaining consistency and excellence in training, while also identifying and nurturing future badminton champions.

Prakash Padukone, one of India’s most celebrated badminton players, has joined PSB as a mentor and advisor. Emphasising the broader life skills sports can instill, he said, “Sport is an essential part of growing up — it builds discipline, resilience, and a winning mindset that extends far beyond the court. At PSB, we aim to create a strong foundation for the future of Indian badminton by offering quality grassroots coaching that is both accessible and affordable.”

Deepika also shared that this initiative is her way of contributing to a healthier and more sports-oriented India, leveraging her early experiences with the sport to drive nationwide impact.
