Dhurandhar 2: Madras High Court blocks illegal streaming of Dhurandhar 2 till April 15
Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh, is currently generating buzz for all the right reasons. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film has already impressed audiences with Ranveer’s performance in its initial installment, and expectations are even higher for the sequel, which many believe could become a defining project in his career.
However, ahead of its theatrical release, Dhurandhar: The Revenge received legal protection against piracy. The Madras High Court issued an interim order to prevent any unauthorized broadcasting of the film.
According to reports, Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy granted an interim injunction restraining multiple internet service providers and cable TV operators from illegally streaming or telecasting the film. The order, passed on March 18, comes right before the film’s release, with paid previews already underway. As reported by Bar and Bench, these restrictions will remain in effect until April 15.
The petition was filed by Reliance Industries Limited and Jio Studios, who raised concerns about possible copyright violations and unauthorized distribution across digital and cable platforms. The producers argued that piracy at this stage could result in significant financial losses, especially as the film prepares for a nationwide release.
With anticipation for Dhurandhar 2 at an all-time high, it has become a prime target for piracy ahead of its debut. The commercial suit emphasized the risk of copyright infringement and sought urgent anti-piracy measures against intermediaries, including ISPs and cable operators.
To support their claim, the producers also submitted certification from the Central Board of Film Certification, establishing their ownership of the film.
