Diljit Dosanjh’s new song ‘Devil’ sparks buzz amid CJP protest row: What’s in the video?
PTC Web Desk: Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has once again caught the attention of fans, this time through his music.
His new song ‘Devil’, released as part of his EP I’m an Artist Bro, has sparked discussion because of its visuals showing protests, angry crowds and a heavy police presence.
The development comes after Diljit faced criticism on social media for not openly speaking about a student protest organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).

At the time, Diljit Dosanjh had said that he was an artist and not a politician, keeping himself away from direct political involvement.
What is shown in ‘Devil’ video?
The music video features scenes of young people protesting, police personnel confronting demonstrators and posters carrying messages such as “Save Our Future” and “Our Future, Our Fight.”
One of the most striking scenes shows a young girl approaching a police officer with a rose. The officer accepts the gesture and hugs her.
The video does not directly name the CJP or identify any particular protest.
However, some fans have linked the visuals to the student movement held at Delhi's Jantar Mantar earlier this year. During that protest, members of the Sikh community were also reported to have provided food through langars and medical support to the students.
At the end of the video, the words “Don't try this at home” appear, followed by “I'm an Artist Bro.”
Diljit had earlier faced criticism
Diljit had earlier come under criticism on social media after he did not immediately speak about the student issue during an Instagram Live session.
A few days later, however, he condemned the alleged police lathi-charge on students.
In a social media post, he wrote that “the voice of the people is the voice of God.” He also referred to criticism he had faced during the farmers' protest.
Seven songs in the new EP
‘Devil’ is part of Diljit's seven-track EP I'm an Artist Bro.
The EP also includes ‘Fizawan’, ‘Love Like This’, ‘Gustakhi’, ‘Waliyan’, ‘Sweet Ting’ and ‘Lambo’.
The music for ‘Devil’ has been produced by Intense, while the lyrics have been written by Hizzy.
While Diljit has not stated that the song is specifically about the CJP protest, the video's imagery has nevertheless generated considerable discussion online.
